My practice focuses on corporate, securities, governance and related matters for technology companies. For more than 20 years, I have represented a variety of private and public companies on general corporate and transactional matters. I spend most of my time counseling late-stage private companies through the IPO process and continuing to serve as outside corporate counsel once they are public.
Why Cooley?
I joined Cooley because of the people. I already felt a bond with many of my partners having worked across the table from them over the years on IPOs for LinkedIn, FireEye and MINDBODY – so there was no doubt that I would definitely have a lot of fun at Cooley. But, frankly, I didn’t know whether Cooley was the firm for me until I sat down with the management team and started to understand what it meant to be Cooley. I was inspired by the firm’s vision, compassion, commitment and humility. The friendships that I’ve made with other attorneys and our professional staff since joining the firm mean the world to me. Mike Lincoln told me recently that I’ve always been a Cooley partner – it just took me awhile to realize it. I smile whenever I think about that.
Some of the clients with whom I work
Asana, Checkr, Fastly, Freshworks, Instacart, PagerDuty, Procore, Snowflake, ThoughtSpot, Unity, Zoom.
Hobbies and interests
Going to music concerts and musicals with friends and family, karaoke (I’m really awful, but I give myself high marks for showmanship), documentaries on American history (like most dads once they hit a certain age), taking the family to Disneyland (we are all Disney nerds truth be told), buying books that sit unread on my nightstand for months until they work their way onto a bookshelf in another room so that I don’t have to feel their accusatory stare every night when I turn out the light, and creating playlists on Spotify.
On the weekends, you can find me
Playing air traffic controller with my wife as we drive our three kids around to sporting events, birthday parties, friends’ houses, etc. I always look forward to Mondays when I can catch my breath and go back to work.
